When I was in Sicily I was trolling for friends and I met Ruth, and I wish I could find her, she was awesome. I have no idea what her last name was. She would be so blunt and nice, had a young son like myself and we hung out a few times and she gave me a recipe for Chalupa. We would get together and she would make this and then I would invite myself over to her house and eat it all. I was thin then too so I could eat even more. She worked where I worked and she was one of the few that I miss. I almost burnt down a villa cooking this, since I didn't have a cooker I cooked this for hours on the stove, well once the moisture disappeared, smoke would suddenly appear. I woke up to a house full of smoke (oops) Okay so you have a roast, go ahead and throw it in the slow cooker with a can of cream of celery soup,1 cup of beef consume, some diced chili's and some jalapeno's. Let simmer until you can shred the meat. Once you shred the meat you add your choice of beans, (about

Okay, so here it is.. no drooling allowed

When you have about 20 minutes left add some mozz cheese on top an let bake. If you

Contemplations...

I want to post my reciepe for my stuffed shells that were perfect and awesome, but I am an only child and do not like to share. Stay tuned, I might change my mind.

Make that appointment, whatcha waiting for?

I think that it is because I am older, but I have way too many people in my life, at work and friends who are finding bad news! Go now get checked! IBC is the rarest and most aggressive type of breast cancer. It makes up only 1 to 5% of breast cancer. It usually occurs in younger women and more predominately in African American women. But don't rely on this infomation. Typically when it is diagnosed, it is labeled stage 4. This is because by the time it is detected it has spread to other organs (lymph nodes, liver, lung, spine, brain). The symptoms are: Swelling, usually sudden, sometimes a cup size in a few days Itching Pink, red, or dark colored area (called erythema) sometimes with texture similar to the skin of an orange (called peau d'orange) Ridges and thickened areas of the skin Nipple retraction Nipple discharge, may or may not be bloody Breast is warm to the touch Breast pain (from a constant ache to stabbing pains) Change in color and texture of the areola Remem

This dip is awesome!!! Maybe keep it in the oven longer. Not too good when it is cold, so maybe by making smaller batches. I also will add more jalapeno's next time. Not enough kick! Jalapeno Popper Dip Recipe from Our Best Bites 2 8-oz. packages cream cheese (light works great) 1 c. mayonnaise (light also works here, but DON'T use Miracle Whip!) 1 c. Parmesan cheese 1 4-oz. can fire roasted green chilies 1/2-1 4-oz. can diced jalapeno peppers*, drained 1-2 sourdough baguettes, sliced, and/or crackers *1/2 can is mild with a little bite, a whole can is definitely on the spicy side, but if you've got taste buds of steel, you might prefer a 7-oz. can. 4 ounces definitely pushes the limit for my husband and I and our kids won't touch it. Preheat oven to 350. In a medium bowl, combine the ingredients and spread into a 9" pie plate or a small baking dish. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until dip is bubbly and golden brown.

A Friday Funny

Image
So I have gotten many questions on why this photograph is so funny. Take a look... I bet you can see it So you can't see the funny in here so let me explain. Okay, so as I was clicking the shutter for this picture, my friend whom I was with, was basically kissing the pavement. No, it was not funny at first, cuz she as well as her dysfunctional tripod and her camera were sprawled in front of Arlington Cemetery, it was dark and there were definately cars coming. As soon as I was clicking to take this picture I heard the thud. I didnt think it was her, I thought someone threw something out of a car. So I look over, see her ass and equipment sprawled out and all I said was, "omg, Lisa get up the cars are coming." I then saw the tripod in three to six pieces, the glint from each of the legs shinning in the night light to give their position, so it was easier to find all of the pieces (remember I said dysfunctional tripod). Then the camera which I learned later came off of the

So a story about the snow

So as you all are aware, I am in snow hell. I see snow in the morning, in the afternoon and in the evening. I see white snow, I see yellow snow, I see brown snow and I also see the black snow from the roads. I drive in the snow, I walk in the snow and I have been falling in the snow while shoveling. Anyways, I am going somewhere with this. I feel as though I am not the only one who gets these feelings in the pit of her stomach and wants to scream at the top of her lungs. When I have been driving around town, I noticed that there are snow banks at every corner over 7 feet tall. When you are driving up towards on of these corners, where cars come out a bit farther than necessary since of course they can't see either, so they kind of burst through and you get that " OMG stay where you are I am going to hit you and I am going to die" feeling do you kind of do a little dance in your head? Enough said for today.

Thank the Lord for Miracles

Everything has begun to heal in the household Things are much nicer. Why can't they be like this all of the time? I am much more happier. I love watching the Olympics, but while watching it, my knees hurt, my back hurts, my entire body hurts just watching some of these people. Vonn just finished... I must go watch more... and hurt more!

I need something to laugh about...

Monday, oh wait it is Tuesday

Do you ever have those days where you do not know whether to scream, cry, laugh or yell? Welcome to my week. I have been tortured by my teenager and trust me this is not fun. Since when are teenagers allowed to be selfish jerks who only think of themselves and never once think about what their parents are going through trying to manage their own lives as well as the teenagers? ASVAB's, senior year, graduation, prom, money, memorabilia, summer, pool, golf, shoes, papers, pencils, high school, getting to school, picking them up, sports, computers, security, college, grades, car, job, friends, work, food, clothes, room and I am sure I am missing about 100 things. We all think about different things and yet they have no clue that we are constantly thinking about them and wondering how they are going to manage without us. Sometimes I wish they came with a manual. Or a return clause. Or maybe I just wish that they would take a step back and actually realize what we do for them, before th

Remember Family Dinner's on Sunday?

I had this rule, once upon a time, where everyone had to be home and eating a nutritious dinner on Sunday. This rule was a great way to start the week and gave us time to relax and calm down from the weekend. We would talk about the week coming up, and find out what was due and what the child was working on. It was a very good time to come together and talk over an excellent meal. I really enjoyed those times. Now, I am the only one sitting at home on a Sunday. Now, Nascar and football take precedence on a Sunday. The child has his own agenda, either working or girlfriend or friends. Since there is no school tomorrow they are all running amuck in the city. There is no together time like before and I really miss it. Yes, I could move it to another day... I tried Monday's but usually those Mondays are filled with grocery store runs, laundry and the last thing I want to do after working all day and running around town is sit down to a meal, and if I had to cook it, we would n

It's Already Friday

Like we haven't already been counting down, but since we have been stuck in the house it has seemed to go on forever. I am glad to see the sun and I hope it stays out for awhile and melts this stuff. I have shoveled enough snow to fill a dump truck. I have baked enough cookies and bread to feed a third world country. In fact, there is a box of goodies on it's way to California. Yes, I understand it is not the same as a third world country but hey it is the thought that counts. The rest that I have not sent away I have been eating every time I pass the kitchen. My workouts are literally going to suck next week! I just want to thank you all for sending me recipes for snow cream. I haven't tried it and I really don't think I am going to. Knowing me, I would pick the snow that was right on top of or next to the yellow snow. This coming from the girl who used to scrape the freezer ice off of the old time freezers when I was a kid and make slushies. I had to make my

Yes people there is snow outside

Okay people, fox news (local) has been having coverage of the snow all day. I am going to assume that we have all seen snow before. Yes, I believe we have, think this past week, Tuesday that stuff in the sky coming down, is called snow. We are getting the same stuff now, just in a much larger quantity. I have already been outside shovelling, something I do not like to do but hey I have to suck it up once in awhile. The snow is heavy and the bushes in the front yard are bending over big time. I will take a picture of it tomorrow to show all of you. I am worried about the power lines, if the electric goes out no one is allowed in the freezer and my 30 gallons of milk can go in the snow. I went to the store twice today, the first time I can thank my son, since he is going to be working all weekend plowing I had to make sure he had food, water, gatorade and clean underware. The second time I have to thank Ourbestbites.com , cuz they had this awesome jalapeno popper dip that looked a

I sat up this morning, and noticed the cold feel of the air. The sun is out. I look outside and see all of the people running outside their house and getting into their cars. Some of them have already come back and are carrying million of bags into their house and now I understand.. the great February snow storm is on its way. Some of you can remember that 7 years ago on Valentines weekend we were also hit with a blizzard.... It's called El Nino people. I have a granola bar, I am happy. I am thinking of getting a hair cut, my tail is getting a bit frizzy.

This is a test

I am creating a test, using word that I just downloaded on my personal computer. With the new version of word you are able to publish your blog posts right from Word into the post. Let's see how this goes. The only problem is that I cannot add the tags in order to categorize my posts. *sigh*

Tuesday Toss Up

Such a busy week that it feels like it should be Friday. I am currently watching LOST so I might not make sense or I might just click publish before the time. All depends on what Jacob wants. I had a funeral to go to today, she was a dear friend and an important part of the Moose Lodge where I belong to. She has done so much for the Chapter and the Lodge, I felt it very important to go. The service was amazing, at times no one said a word and at other times everyone started laughing. She was loved by many and known by more. We then had the wake at the Lodge, and there was more donated food than there were people I think. Everyone told stories and had a great time. It was nice to see young children runing through the lodge and playing the games. Everyone stayed for a long time and when I left at 7 there were still a lot of people there. I made myself go to the grocery store while there was still bread and milk there so that I had groceries for the rest of the week. They are cal
